Lilies are my favorite. Daylilies, ditch lilies, wood lilies. They have many common names, and for me, they are a beacon of light in the shadows and dark places. They grow in disturbed soil and along roadsides, in ditches and along the foundations of buildings. They are a small, triumphant song of joy, every time.
