Delicacy - Peony

I'll admit it, I went in head over heels for this one. Peonies. They're this incredible cluster of tight layers of petals, blooming forth day after day until they're almost an orb, a full, delicate cloud of thin, scented, glorious softness. This white one, with its deep magenta heart and secret warm glow and hidden blue purple shadows, really captivated me, with the way light got lost in its depths and bounced between the shining curves of each crown. I let the magenta underpainting peek through to lace the whole monochromatic experience together.
24" x 24" oil on cradled wooden board, with a deep gallery edge (1" deep)
Hang-ready wired, titled and signed on the back.
